What Our Sponsors Are Saying

“All of us at Hannaford are honored to support the Benedictine Health Foundation’s annual Bike for Cancer Care. Good nutrition is a vital component in the fight against cancer and it is critically important that individuals undergoing treatment are cared for as they strive to meet the day-to-day challenges associated with recovery. By providing the means to access a healthy and nutritious meal, Hannaford hopes to help those fighting cancer stay on track with their treatment and achieve wellness. The Benedictine Health Foundation is a true leader in quality and compassionate care and Hannaford is proud to stand by them in their service to Ulster County residents.”

“At Meltzer & Hill Wealth Advisory we believe it’s important to support our community.  The Benedictine Health Foundation’s Bike for Cancer Care event does a great job of raising money to help people who really need it. That’s why we’re proud to be a sponsor and why I’ve made personally participating in the ride a priority since 2007.”

“Giving back to our community is more than a policy at Rondout Savings Bank, it is part of our history and culture. The Benedictine Health Foundation’s Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund provides necessary support and compassion to those Ulster County residents in need, and all of us at Rondout Savings Bank are proud to aid their cause. The Bike for Cancer Care is an event that brings our community together providing a healthy awareness that strengthens us in so many ways. I am delighted that Rondout’s Dividends to the Community program has supported hundreds of such community programs over the years. I look forward to the banks on-going hard work and dedication to assure continued support to the residents living in and around the towns and cities that we serve.”

“Stewart’s is committed to giving back to all our shops’ communities. Giving to the The Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund helps make our community stronger and healthier.”

Susan Dake
Stewart’s Shops Foundation President

“There are many reasons that I support the Bike for Cancer Care annually to benefit the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund. First, I have known a member of the Gruner family my entire life. Helen Foley, a guest at Williams Lake Hotel (our family-owned business for over 78 years), married Al Gruner who was a summer employee at Williams Lake in the early 1940’s. It is now four generations later, and this family is still very much a part of my life.

I am also a cancer survivor since l995. I traveled daily for 10 weeks from Stone Ridge to Kingston for radiation. Fortunately, I did not live a great distance from where I received treatment. Some patients have to travel 50 to 100 miles a day for treatment, and with the current energy costs, transportation is very expensive. The Gruner Fund issues gas cards to those who cannot afford these expensive trips.

Also, the money raised from the Bike for Cancer stays in our local community. Recipients of the Fund are residents of Ulster County or they receive treatment in Ulster County.

It is very difficult to cope with a diagnosis of cancer. A solid support system can do wonders towards recovery. It is very important to me to be a part of that support by assisting financially, and helping the patient to focus on their health, not on the dollars it takes to receive and get to treatment.”

Timely Signs

“Timely Signs has been a sponsor of the Bike For Cancer Care as well as a supporter of the Rosemary Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund since it’s inception. We’ve always felt that this organization was truly the best choice for making an impact on Cancer right here in our own community. When my dad Ozzie, founder of our company, was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer in July of 2009, we got to experience first hand all of the uncertainty, stress and financial strain that goes along with treating this disease. We were fortunate but soon realized that so many people in our community needed financial help to cope with the unforeseen cost of cancer. Team Ozzie has been and continues to be a top fund raiser for the ride. We are truly proud to support this event and grateful that our dad has been Cancer-free now for 4 years.”

Timely Signs

“We have all been touched by cancer at some point in our lives – either by a family member, a friend, a co-worker, or a neighbor. We have seen the overwhelming medical expenses and trauma these patients have to deal with. Simple things such as putting food on the table, paying for gas to go back and forth to treatments, or buying a wig to build up confidence can be challenging, sometimes impossible. The Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund turns these hurdles into possibilities. Every dollar goes to cancer patients in our community. Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County and I are grateful to be a part of a fund that eases the burden for our friends and neighbors.

We have been proud supporters for the Bike for Cancer Care for five years, and we applaud the hard work and dedication that the Benedictine Health Foundation Bike for Cancer Care and the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund have done.”
